Business Analyst

Working as part of a dynamic and fast growing development team, the Business Analyst will undertake a wide-variety of business analysis and product ownership activity across a broad set of products, built on top of the Merit FINBOS platform, in order to deliver quality solutions to our clients. Working within the main development office, and also potentially on client sites, the Business Analyst will work together with the Project Manager and the Development Team to ensure the successful delivery of projects, whilst also helping to maintain and advance a coherent set of features across our products.

The Business Analyst will be responsible for completing assigned work within an agreed schedule, while adhering to quality standards and processes, and they will also be expected to share responsibility for continual refinement and improvement of these standards and processes. In addition to specific work for project delivery, the Business Analyst will also contribute to on-going support of live clients, as well as providing business input to the pre-sales process.

More specifically this role will be responsible for the following:

  • Attend and contribute to business discovery workshops with clients.
  • Understand, review, and interpret business requirement documents received from clients and/or produce such documentation as necessary for different projects.
  • Conduct gap analysis between client requirements and current product functionality in order to populate the backlog of features for the development team to build.
  • Be able to identify common requirements received from multiple client projects in order to guide the development of common product solutions, rather than bespoke project solutions.
  • Provide the development team with business guidance throughout the build process, either directly, or acting as a conduit to the client.
  • Review new features as demonstrated internally by the development team, acting as a quality gate-keeper prior to client delivery.
  • Provide internal sign-off that new features built by the development team meet the criteria of the corresponding client requirements.
  • Conduct show-and-tell of new features to clients.
  • Help to define and maintain test cases for manual and automated testing of across the set of products.
  • Provide analysis input to issues raised during UAT, or from live clients. Be able to identify whether issues constitute a defect or an enhancement request.
  • Review and comment upon test cases or acceptance criteria where these are supplied by the client.
  • Contribute content, and share group review responsibility, to create or refine internal documentation, standards, or business analysis practices.
  • Represent Merit on functional client calls and meetings as required by specific projects.
  • Contribute where required to the pre-sales process, and provide assistance to SME and Salesperson during execution of demos.
  • Analyse requested market changes (such as new tax rules, processes etc.) and distil them into functional elements that can be built on the platform.
  • Ensure documentation accurately describes processes and is complete.
  • Absorb knowledge from external sources, such as clients, partners, and advisers, and summarise appropriate elements from a Merit perspective.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Understanding of Financial end to end processes such as settlement cycles
  • Prior experience of both a client environment in addition to acting in a Software House is an advantage
  • Exposure to Agile development methods such as Scrum, Kanban
