Business Developer

Working as part of a dynamic and fast growing development team, the Business Developer will undertake a wide-variety of development and implementation activity across a broad set of products, building and configuring on top of the Merit FINBOS platform, to deliver quality solutions to our clients.

Working on an individual basis or as part of a team, and with varying levels of supervision, according to size and complexity of the project, the Business Developer will work to ensure successful delivery of projects, and will be responsible for completing assigned work within an agreed schedule, adhering to quality standards, while upholding Merit development processes and practices. They will also be expected to share responsibility for continual refinement and improvement of these development processes and practices. In addition to specific work for project delivery, the Business Developer will also contribute to on-going support of live clients, as well as providing technical input to the pre-sales process.

More specifically this role will be responsible for the following:

  • Interpreting client requirements that are expressed to differing levels of detail and format.
  • Designing solutions to these requirements, or working from the designs of others within the development team.
  • Build and configure incoming transaction and reference data interfaces across a range of formats (including csv files, xslx files, XML, flat files, Web Service) using in-house ETL toolkit.
  • Define and maintain data structures in order to model often complex transactional and reference data relationships. Understand and interact with these data models within an Oracle or SQL Server database layer.
  • Define and maintain complex decision trees, and underlying scripts, to drive validation, enrichment, and exception handling on transactional data.
  • Build & modify templates for client and ad-hoc reporting (outputting data in a variety of formats including: HTML, csv, xslx, PDF ) using in-house templating and report building toolkit.
  • Configure role-based user entitlements using internal toolkit, and linking to technologies such as AD, siteminder, or customer specific authentication.
  • Build and modify UI elements for desktop and web UI, including list views, view/amend forms, and actions.
  • Create and execute automated and manual regression tests against test cases derived from client requirements.
  • Package, Deliver, and assist remotely with installation.
  • Provide remote assistance and support to client integration testing, user acceptance testing, and go live.
  • Contribute content, and share group review responsibility, to create or refine internal documentation, standards, or development practice.
  • Respond to and work on support requests across the live client base
  • Represent Merit on technical and functional client calls and meetings as required by specific projects
  • Contribute where required to the pre-sales process, including: maintenance and preparation of demo environments, validation and rehearsal of demo scripts, testing and fixing issues on existing demo systems, and providing technical assistance to SME and Salesperson during execution of demos.

  • Exposure to Agile development methods such as Scrum, Kanban
