We had great contributions from Daniel Dzenkowski from PWC, Daniel provided us with some very interesting insights on potential amendments to the program timetable as well as treatment of certain MLP items. Daniel was followed by Nacera Beniken of Fidal (KPMG), Nacera provided a great overview of the current Combination rule requirements and also French market specific concerns.
Chris Morris of EY shared a number of Buy Side considerations. Especially in terms of information required from a Buy side customer; along with Qualified Index considerations, such as Indices becoming 871m taxable if the holding entity has a short position of over 5% in the underlying security. Finally, Meritsoft’s Daniel Carpenter, who compered the seminar, provided the event with practical learnings from recent and current Merit 871m implementations, on how to prepare for and achieve an automated 871m solution, where data is retained in a common transaction tax repository. Looking forward he shared Meritsoft tax developments for streamlining and automating tax operations, such as Meritsoft’s “ready to go” QDD solution. Followed by great audience participation and questions from attendee’s.
